THE WOLVISTON BOYS

Remembering The Men Of Wolviston Who Died Whilst Serving During Both World Wars.

This project began for me one cold day in 2001 and it has to be said it did so purely by accident.

This part time hobby and project will hopefully, in a small way, remind us of who those men were. It may also remind us that they were at one time residents of Wolviston and the surrounding area who died in the service of their country. This is only a hobby, though I have a deep interest in World War One research, I belong to that generation for which information technology and computers are not an instinctive and natural skill though I add information when I find it and more importantly when I have the time to devote to doing battle with a website and HTML.

I have no intention of publishing any of this information, it is purely for my own interest and to form a permanent record where it will remain forever, though I have allowed access to parts of my research to others. Barnard Castle School, for example, are planning to research and publish a book relating to their 'Old Boys' who died during various armed conflicts over the years and I have allowed the school permission to include and publish information about Lt H S Richards from my research in return for a named mention as 'original researcher' in the finished book. The same also applies to the Tynemouth Memorial Project.

Historical research of this nature and dealing with events of a hundred years or more ago does take a lot of time, and in some cases money, to complete. There is much to read however and I hope some of it may be of interest, just click through the links and you will find something.

The website is now with a new web host and so I am finding more time to devote to it. Check the update date and time stamp below to see the last update.
